Extraterrestrial Ceramics – studio Antimundo

Back in 2018, the artist had the opportunity to spend an entire year working along with scientists at the Leiden Astronomical Observatory.

The astrophysicists provided him with information on the particular composition of the soil from different areas of our Solar System. For this series of artworks, the exact soil composition of Venus, Mars, Mercury, and the Moon was replicated.
Subsequently, these extraterrestrial soils were turned into ceramics. In some cases, the resulting forms have been inspired by different early civilizations for whom ceramics was one of their most vital technologies, and in other cases the sculptural form has taken on a more organic outcome.
